Its anti-radical power is exceptionally high,
a true natural, precious and powerful ingredient.
Description
Saffron is a product classified in the spice family.
It is obtained by the cultivation of a small herbaceous flower of the Iridaceae family,
from which three red stigmas are taken, the length of which generally varies
between 2.5 to 3.2 cm. These are dehydrated naturally.
The saffron flower, the gold of Talaouine
In the tranquility of the lands of Taliouine in Morocco, ephemeral purple flowers open
which hide in their heart a precious red gold with exceptional anti-oxidant properties.
150,000 flowers are needed to obtain 1 kilogram of dry saffron,
or 250 hours of work.
A colossal job carried out especially by women.
The saffron flower of Taliouine: a trade that has become fair
For the inhabitants of the village of Taliouine and its surroundings,
saffron is much more than a rare and expensive spice.
In this region of Souss-Massa-Drâa, located on the foothills
from the Anti-Atlas to the south of Morocco, this red gold indeed constitutes
one of the main sources of income. But the sector needs
to organize themselves, because producers are struggling to find what they need,
when the intermediaries benefit greatly from it.
Since the 2000s, the Migrations & Développement (M&D) association, created by Moroccan migrants
settled in France, helps them there.
